Hello and happy Monday! Today's post is going to be about 4 separate shops on the Etsy Promoting Creative Friends Team. These shops are the "Shops of the Day". Here you'll find handmade goodies at great prices!
Our first shop is Nina's Couture Closet. She has lots of adorable outfits for your little furry friend! This one caught my eye since spring is just around the corner.

An adorable little blue dog dress with embroidery! Just what your pooch needs for spring!

Another of today's shops is Jewels of Earth. She has woodburning pieces and natural slate etchings.
This little bunny caught my eye right away.

Wood burning art of a rabbit on shell fungus. How creative!! And so cute!

Our 3rd shop of the day is Made By A Hug. Here you'll find gift tags, rubber stamps, envelopes seals and vintage binding to name a few. I fell in love with this Tiffany Blue Flower Rose Organza Nylon Tulle Trim at first sight!

And finally, we have Sandys Kickin Coasters. She has a variety of coasters and magnets to beautify your home with, or give as a gift! This set of dragonfly decoupage tile coasters caught my eye right away!

Welcome to 2012!! I've been very lax with my blog and am going to do better! Thought I'd do my first post this year on my newest challenge - hand-stamping jewelry. I love hand-stamped jewelry because it's so unique and personal, so I decided to try my hand at it! Here are a few pieces of my work.

I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on this new craft, but I am loving it when I can do it!!

Handmade Review Part 6

It's time (overdue) for another handmade review! Let me show you some shops that have quality items and great customer service!
First off, let's go to STONEFEVERJEWELRY. I recently purchased this wedding ring set from him.

My birthstone is garnet, my other set is too small, and I have since fallen in love with sterling silver, so it was a no-brainer once I found his shop! The rings are exquisite, fit perfectly, look just as pictured and were shipped quickly. What more could you ask for? He has all kinds of jewelry, not just rings, so stop on by and tell him I sent ya!

Another great find for me in the handmade world is BL SOAPS. I recently ran across their shop and decided to try their foundation, eye shadow and blush. I was getting low on my current foundation and thought I'd like to try something different. Their foundation is absolutely wonderful! It's the best feeling thing I've ever put on my skin! Each of their products that I've purchased is great, and they are always shipped fast! Here is a pic of the foundation.

You've just got to stop on by - they have bath and body, and lots of mineral makeup! You won't be sorry you did!

Part 5 of my Handmade Reviews showcases another group of fine artisans from Etsy! Let's get started!

Signature Sparkles is a great shop with lots of goodies, from jewelry to soaps! Personally, I purchased lotion and shower gel. (Actually we traded items) I got some black cherry lavender lotion and a new coconut shower gel she is adding to her items. I loved both of them. The lotion is thick and creamy and my skin just drinks it in with no greasy afterfeel. The shower gel smells awesome and lathers great, even with a washcloth! Here are a few other items I found in her shop.

A while back I did some posts on items I had bought that were handmade, kind of a review. I have fallen in love with handmade things from potholders to purses. I have gotten so many unique and gorgeous items and wanted to share a few more with you! I LOVE the fact that each of these things was crafted by hand with heart and soul!

From SewBizzyGifts I got this cooking conversion chart (actually traded for it). She has so many different and unique items. It was really hard to choose!

From EweniqueEssenials

I got this awesome clutch travel cosmetics bag. She is VERY talented and I really love my bag! It's beautiful and useful!

From BlueMorningExpressions I got 4 adorable polymer clay refrigerator magnets. This is 1 of them. She has beautiful beads also, and I've gotten some of them before too!

And from luvncrafts I got these beautiful hot pads! She has purses, cards, jewelry - all lovely and quality items!

I really hope you will take some time to browse through these shops - they are wonderful people who definitely have a talent - and when you buy from them you know you are getting something carefully created to impress and please!

A Great Place to Buy and Sell!

The venue where I sell my handcrafted jewelry and supplies is having a contest!! All we have to do is list 5 things that we like about selling there. Of course, I couldn't resist entering that contest so here are my reasons!

I like that you have 1 price to pay each month, versus paying a fee to list and a fee when you sell. This way, I always know what my charge will be and can list as many items as I want at any given time with no price difference! I truly believe the more inventory you have, the more likely you are to make sales!
The other artisans on Artfire are a very friendly and helpful group. You can get an answer to any question just through the forums! And the forums are a fun way to interact with other artisans and get to know them. I have made several good friends there!
The administrative folks are GREAT! Always a quick reply to any question and never a DUMB question can be asked. They also actually listen to their sellers and make the changes we want or need whenever possible.
The pro-seller tools are awesome! So many ways to make selling and promoting your studio easy and fun! They also work very hard to make it easier to design, update and maintain your studio. As an artisan, you have so much control over how your studio looks and interacts with buyers!
Artfire continues to grow and change - so many improvements over the last several years. When I look at other selling venues, Artfire beats them all hands down with enhancements and updates! Artfire is ever evolving - and for my money, is THE best place to sell or buy!
I do almost all of my purchasing of handmade products on Artfire. You can find just about anything you want or need and I am never disappointed in the quality of what I buy!
If you are just starting out and just want to get your feet wet, you can start a basic studio for free and upgrade to pro at any time.

Handmade Review Part 3

Happy Thursday! Today is part 3 in my handmade review series. We'll be looking at several shops, the first of which is KathyJoCreations on Artfire. She makes clothing, planners, crayon wallets and hemp jewelry to name a few. The item I received from her is this personal planner wallet organizer.

It is PERFECT! It holds my calender, notebook, coupons, business cards and telephone address book! It's very light weight and can be carried in my purse. If you are looking for a planner, check out her studio!

The next item I'd like to share with you is this stained glass hummingbird sun catcher I purchased from Lisianblue on Artfire.

She crafts stained glass, painted and etched glass, scarves and hats and painted ornaments. I love my suncatcher (I'm a sucker for anything hummingbird). It is as beautiful as the picture and high quality! You should stop her studio and see what lovelies she has to offer!

And last, but not least, for today is my grocery bag storage holder that I purchased from Jewelz_Creatives.

I absolutely love the purple and blue colors together and this one is a nice size - not too big and not too small! She also makes coasters, dog toys, fabric bookmarks and catnip toys. Stop by and see what she has to offer!

The artisan states: "I hand-blend "Happy Hands" hand cream with goat's milk, shea butter and honey, especially for knitters, crocheters, spinners & other fiber artists & crafters. It will *not* transfer to your handiwork!"
This is a truly wonderful lotion! I don't knit or crochet, but I do craft jewelry and this lotion works great! It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feel behind. I love it!

Handmade Review

Since this blog is about handmade and great deals, I thought I would share with you some of the handmade items I have purchased over the past year or so and give a little review. I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS read the reviews on a product before I buy!

For my cuticles, I purchased this Soothing Cuticle Cream from Luscious Lather on Artfire.

I love it! It is very soothing, softening and has helped me "shape up" my ragged cuticles. It's a 1 oz. jar that will probably last me for a loooong time! Great product at a great price.

This Lavender Shea Butter Hand Balm

From Norma's Bath & Body feels absolutely wonderful on my hands! Smooth and creamy, with the calming scent of lavender, my dry, rough hands get a real softening pick me up whenever I smooth it on - which is quite frequently! And the price is absolutely great!

This Cotton Candy Lip Balm

I purchased from Your Time and it feels and smells wonderful! Soothing to the lips with the yummy fragrance of cotton candy. Another great item at a great price!

The last item I'll review tonight is this Crochet Dish Cloth

that I purchased from With Our Hands and I love it. Carefully quality crafted, it looks good, feels good and works good! The price is right on the money too!

Out Of The Doldrums

Over the past few months, I've been in a kind of "slump". I love beading and creating jewelry pieces - it is a "therapy" for me. But, in the last couple of months, I'd lost my inspiration - and couldn't seem to sit down and create a thing. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I've come up out of the pit and am creating again! And it feels GREAT!
I usually sit down after dinner and dishes to my dining room table (aka workstation) and begin a project. Sometimes I finish it that night, and other times it takes a few days or a week. But, all the while, my creative spirit is flying!
Here are a few of my recent creations.

If you are an artist, and low on inspiration at the moment, hang in there! It will come back.
If you are an artist and have found ways to come up from the doldrums, I would LOVE to hear your ideas!

Roxie A Year Later

I just finished going through some of the posts on the blogs that I follow and decided to do a post myself today. Today, I'm talking about our 1 yr. old min pin, Roxie. We got her last year on Labor Day weekend. I never dreamed I could love an animal like I do her!! All the books and articles I have read about the "King of the Toys" talk about their personality being so stubborn, mischevious and loveable - and this is so true!!

Our Roxie has EVERYONE in the family loving her!! One minute she is laying her head on your shoulder and snuggling, the next she is barking, jumping and traveling at an excessive rate of speed to protect her yard, home, family, etc. She loves to chase squirrels, cars, pretty much anything that moves! With a never-ending source of energy during the day, usually around 9:00 at night she finally collapses and doesn't get up until morning! She loves to tunnel under blankets and throws. At any time during the evening, I can look over at the couch or recliner and see the throw moving in different directions while Roxie settles herself in another position!

She is stubborn, (almost never got her house broken!) loving, crazy and adorable! She has brought untold joy to our humble home and I am so glad that we have her!

I am usually exploring the world of hand-made goodies and sharing my finds with you. Today, I'd like to share a find I made recently about a whole new shopping experience! It's called Bonanzle!

It's like a flea market on line! You will find handmade items, antiques, clothing, household items - some new and some used - all on the same website!

I have recently opened a "booth" there (my link is in the upper right hand corner on this page) called Tak Unique Designs. There I sell my handcrafted jewelry and other items such as household items, purses, etc.

Bonanzle is a VERY friendly community with lots of nice sellers/buyers! I've made quite a few transactions there and haven't been disappointed yet!

Hello again! I've found another treasure shop! Today's find is Amused Studios. This studio is owned by Robbie and Sarah, a couple whose day job is working as studio technicians in the 3-D department at Salisbury University. They have been doing pottery for over 4 years now. Starting while Sarah was in her last year of college, they fell in love with this art and have been doing it ever since! They also have a home studio with a show room for all of their work.

This one is called the Crystal Keep

They show their work at a variety of shows, from wine festivals and craft shows to fine art shows and holiday bazaars! The jar "Flowing" (shown below), was shown in the Art Institute and Gallery's 18th Annual National Juried Exhibition in their own hometown of Salisbury, MD.

Robbie and Sarah say they are their own best inspiration! They push each other to reach further into the directions they want to go with their art by being supportive and brutally honest about each other's creations!

Today, I have the wonderful pleasure of showing you SOFT AS POOKA. This shop is a new endeavor for a 70yr old retired service coordinator for deaf students from Miami-Dade College. She has been knitting for 50 years! And just recently has started crocheting! Today's find for me (actually I found it a few days ago) is Inlet Images. This artisan's gallery " hosts many genres of photography, from landscapes to wildlife photography of birds and woodland creatures." I found myself intriqued and in awe of the different types of photographs and the beauty in them. I am a bright color person and love lots of color. For instance, this photo is a definite favorite of mine.
